GHGT-14 Social Activities & Guest Partner Registration


We are kicking off the Conference week on Sunday 21st October at the iconic National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) for the GHGT-14 Welcome drinks. Please make your way to the Great Hall in the NGV for 18.30 hours where we will be serving complimentary drinks and canapés until 21.30 hours. This traditional part of the GHGT Conference is your first opportunity to mingle with your peers, catch up with old friends within the industry, and hear from our hosts and the IEAGHG team on the packed technical programme throughout the week.  Please ensure you click to attend the welcome drinks reception when registering as a delegate for GHGT-14.

Note: There will be NO REGISTRATION at the NGV. However, you don't need to have registered on Sunday to attend the Welcome. It just means you will not have your delegate badge.

Tuesday 23rd October 18.00 hours to 20.00 hours join us at The Boat Builders Yard Bar and Restaurant opposite the Melbourne Conference and Exhibition centre on the quayside. This event hosted by our sponsor INPEX is open to all students attending the GHGT-14 conference and IEAGHG Summer School invited alumni. Please make your way to the “Upper and Lower Decks bar of the Boat Builders Yard found opposite the MCEC for 18.00 hours where we will be serving complimentary drinks and nibbles and you can hear from our sponsor INPEX as well as an update on this year’s Summer School in Norway and future plans. Please ensure you click to attend the Student Reception when registering as a delegate for GHGT-14, and ensure you have your delegate lanyard with you for entry to the reception.

The social highlight of the conference week is our Gala Dinner taking place on Wednesday 24th October in the Melbourne Room on the second floor of the MCEC, sponsored this year by BHP.  

Join us in the Melbourne Room foyer for complimentary drinks and canapés at 18.30 hours then take your seat at 19.15 hours for a specially selected 3 course dinner showcasing some of Victoria's signature dishes and flavours (all food served and drinks are included in your delegate fee).

After dinner, we will hear from our hosts and sponsor BHP, before welcoming to the stage some special performers and your chance to experience Australian cultural entertainment.  Finally, we finish the evening off and have the chance to work off some of those calories on the dance floor, before it's time to say goodnight! 

Please ensure you click to attend the Gala Dinner when registering as a delegate for GHGT-14 and make sure you complete the dietary requirements section if you have food allergies or require a special diet - for example: Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten free, Coeliac etc.

Dress Code: Smart/Casual. There is no requirement for black tie/dinner jackets.




We are happy to confirm that delegates or guest speakers attending the GHGT-14 Conference who would like to bring their partner/wife/husband to the evening activities on Sunday 21st October and Wednesday 24th October can now register to attend.

A fixed fee of $150 AUD is applicable per person, payable in advance. 

The fee covers entrance to the National Gallery of Victoria, complimentary drinks and canapés from 18.30 to 21.30 on Sunday 21st October, and entrance to the GHGT-14 Gala dinner sponsored by BHP on Wednesday 24th October 19.00 hrs until late, and includes welcome drinks, three course sit down dinner, all dinner drinks and entertainment.

Please remember to complete the details for any special dietary requirements for the guest on registration.
